Round 1 of the 2020 Monster Energy AMA Supercross FIM World Championship is in the history books. BikeBandit takes a look at the results and gives you some insight on how our night went!
Justin Barcia Wins A1
Justin Barcia places himself on top of the box for the second year in a row at Anaheim 1, beating Adam Cianciarulo and Cooper Webb to the checkered flag.
Adam Cianciarulo surprised all of us yet again, backing up his performance at the Monster Energy Cup. For a second, it looked like he was going to run away with the win after passing Justin Barcia. Unfortunately, a mistake would cost him a position and he would settle for 2nd place. Not bad at all for a rookie!
Cooper Webb, the reigning 450 Supercross Champion looked bad coming into the season opener because of sickness but he did not let that stop him from placing himself on the podium and earning some very valuable points for the points championship.
Not only did Yamaha take the 450 Class Win, they captured 1st and 2nd in the 250 Class. Riding for Monster Energy Yamaha, Justin Cooper would go on to win his first ever Pro Supercross Victory.
Coopers’ teammate and defending 250 West Champion, Dylan Ferrandis would make his way through the pack and place his Yamaha in second!
Yamaha was performing exceptionally well all night long, capturing heat race victories and podiums.
Austin Forkner finished third for the night in the 250 class. Unfortunately, an incident during the race that saw him cut the track resulted in a two position dock. This would place him in 5th for the night and gifted Christian Craig a third place finish.
FLY Racing, Tacos, & Our View
FLY Racing and Western Power Sports had a really sweet booth set up with all of the gear lines on display. Reps were present and ready to answer all of the questions and to provide feedback to curious riders like me and you!
Shout out to Western Power Sports and Alex Fuentes for treating us like family and hooking us up with some delicious tacos! Nothing beats motorcycles and tacos on the opening day of Supercross!
If you ride red, or know anything about motorcycle racing, you know that these 3 bikes on display are some of the most legendary bikes there has ever been in motocross, supercross, and desert racing. These bikes belong to Johhny Campbell, Ricky Carmichael, and Jeremy McGrath; 3 of the most talented racers of all time.
Justin Barcia was riding like never before! He had a great start and quickly made his way into the lead. Bam-Bam lead the race for multiple laps until a mistake saw him land on top of a tough-block and making him go off track. Fortunately, he did not crash but he was passed by Adam Cianciarulo, who would go on to lead the race for multiple laps as well. Barcia followed closely behind, and an unexpected mistake from Adam Cianciarulo would cost him a position to Barcia. Justin Barcia would hold on to the lead and started pulling away from Adam. He held the lead all the way to the finish and he was awarded with his Second Anaheim 1 Victory in a row. (2019 and 2020 Anaheim 1 Winner)

Summary
Anaheim 1 was everything that we expected and more! Some of our favorites did not live up to the expectations and others did, but that’s the beauty of the sport! Anybody in the top 10 can take the Win with the classes being as stacked as they are! If it was easy, anybody would do it! All in all, BikeBandit had a great time at A1, and we look forward to the upcoming rounds. See you in San Diego in February!
